About this course:
The content of this (4) four-unit course will provide an overview of infection prevention practices in the Dialysis setting (in-patient, clinic, and at-home settings). This course will expand on foundational infection prevention practices and principles of blood-borne pathogens, hand hygiene, standard/transmission-based precautions, and the role of personal protective equipment. This course will provide an overview of healthcare-acquired infections [HAI], cleaning/ disinfection, best practice guidance, regulatory requirements, and NHSN reporting tailored to the dialysis setting. Finally, this course will introduce HAI surveillance and the process of investigating possible HAIs, evaluate practice and process gaps, and create improvement plans to address identified opportunities.
