We are pleased to offer the following general and program-specific scholarships and grants.
Program-Specific Scholarships & Grants
Accounting and Taxation
- Accounting and Taxation Scholarship: Funding for individuals with a passion for professional development who are pursing either the Accounting or Taxation certificate.
Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counseling
- Zappala Family Scholarship: Provides partial scholarships annually to eligible applicants.
Architecture and Interior Design
- Dylan de Guzman Scholarship: Available to Interior Design: Foundation Level certificate students who have completed at least 12 units with a GPA of 3.0 or better.
- James R. Northcutt Scholarship for Beginning Students: Awarded to a student who has completed the Fundamentals of Interior Architecture course, demonstrating a high caliber of work, as nominated by selected instructors.
Career Programs
- UCLAxCareerBridge provides adults from communities access to professional training to prepare for in-demand careers.
Film Scoring
- BMI/Jerry Goldsmith Film Scoring Scholarship: Annual award to help composers develop the specialized skills and essential contacts needed to pursue a successful film scoring career.
Business, Entrepreneurship & Financial Programs
- Vets Count Scholarship: Scholarship for active duty U.S. military personnel and U.S. veterans, and their immediate families, who are interested in pursuing select financial management programs.
- Joseph G. Devanney Scholarship: This quarterly scholarship supports students enrolling in the capstone course in the Personal Financial Planning Certificate or the Personal Financial Planning Accelerated Online Certificate.
- UC Excelerator: UCLA and UC Berkeley Extensions have launched the UC Excelerator, a tuition-free program offering academic credit, career-focused coursework, and professional networking to expand university access for those who may not have previously considered continuing their education.
Horticulture
- J. Michael Baer Horticulture Scholarship: This annual award provides current Horticulture Certificate students financial assistance in completing the Horticulture Certificate.
Osher (OLLI) at UCLA
- Michael Williams Memorial Scholarship: For current and prospective members of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI at UCLA) who demonstrate financial need, the Michael Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund provides a free year of OLLI Plus membership.
Personal Financial Planning
- Jeff DeLarme Personal Financial Planning Scholarship: This scholarship provides funding for qualified UCLA Extension students who have a passion for continuing education and professional development and who are working toward completion of either one of the Personal Financial Planning Certificates. Beginning in 2025, UCLA Extension will award this scholarship annually to cover the cost of completing the next three courses of one of these programs.
Real Estate
- Real Estate Scholarship: This bi-annual award provides funding to a current student who is working towards the completion of one of the four real estate certificate programs.
Strategic Branding & Public Relations and Entertainment Studies
- Henri Bollinger Memorial Scholarship: This annual award provides financial assistance to a current student working toward completing the Strategic Branding and Public Relations Certificate or the Entertainment Studies Certificate.
UCLA Extension Grants
- UCLA Extension Grants: UCLA Extension offers grants to U.S. citizens and Green Card holders who are not otherwise eligible for federal aid programs.
Writing
- Barbara Abercrombie Creative Writing Scholarship: This quarterly scholarship awards one student with a complimentary enrollment in a creative writing course of their choosing.
- Phyllis Gebauer Scholarship in Writing: Awards up to six scholarships annually to promising writers who might otherwise not have the opportunity to study their craft in a supportive educational environment.

Sponsored Awards and Scholarships
UCLA Extension also accepts funds from organizations that have sponsored an award and/or scholarship to help a student(s) cover tuition costs. Here is how it works:
Funds should be made payable to UC Regents and mailed to:

Please include:
- Recipient's name, address, and telephone number
- Award enrollment period (e.g., Winter Quarter 2018 through Summer Quarter 2018)
- Name and contact information for organization representative.
All checks/funds received from sponsors will be processed as gift payments and immediately deposited into the receiving student’s account for unrestricted use. Any unused balances will be refunded to the student.
UCLA Extension is not responsible for ensuring the receiving student uses the funds in the manner intended by the sponsor. This responsibility rests solely with the student.
The receiving student holds responsibility for reporting satisfactory academic progress to their sponsor organization, if required. To do so, the student can order an official UCLA Extension transcript.
