UCLA Extension Director Reappointed to CA State Mining and Geology Board

Director Renews Commitment to Sustainability and Conservation of California’s Natural Resources

Stephanie Landregan

Governor Gavin Newsom recently reappointed Stephanie Landregan to the California State Mining and Geology Board. The California Mining and Geology Board serves as a regulatory, policy, and hearing body representing the state’s interests in geology, geologic and seismologic hazards, the conservation of mineral resources, and the reclamation of mining lands.

Landregan is the director of the post-graduate Landscape Architecture Certificate and the Horticulture and Gardening program at the Division of Continuing Education at UCLA Extension. Previously, Landregan was the chief landscape architect for the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority, where she designed public access to open spaces in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. She was featured in Landscape Architecture magazine in April 2008 in an article discussing paths to becoming a landscape architect. Her work in 2002 on the final design and construction of the Augustus F. Hawkins Natural Park in South Central Los Angeles won national and international attention for its community-involved design, craftsmanship, and sustainability.

She has worked on codes and ordinances that affect all aspects of the Californian landscape, including tree ordinances, fire codes, low impact development, and water conservation measures. Ms. Landregan graduated from the University of Kentucky and is a graduate of UCLA Extension’s Landscape Architecture Certificate program. In 2020, she received a master’s degree in project management from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Landregan is a licensed  landscape architect in the State of California.
