Tamar Andrews

Tamar D. Andrews

Dr. Tamar Andrews has been teaching for UCLA for over 20 years in both Extension and the UCLA Graduate School of Education.  A passionate champion of early childhood educators and a defender of a child's right to a play-based childhood, Dr. Andrews has instilled her values and ideals into both the courses she teaches and in the schools she consults to.  She provides professional development across the United States as well as to countries as far away as Azerbaijan, China, and everywhere in between. She has many years of experience as both an ECE teacher and director and currently helps open schools as well as to help raise the professionalism in schools, school districts, and in legislative policies.

As director of the ECE degree program at the American Jewish University, Dr. Andrews' research areas of interest are teacher professional development dispositions, how to help identify and support children with different abilities and/or special needs early in life, and more. Dr. Andrews specializations are curriculum including language and literacy, STEM in ECE, and administration of ECE programs.
