
Shelley R. Bonus
Shelley Bonus is an astronomer, lecturer, science translator, and writer. She served as the telescope coordinator for the Mt. Wilson Observatory for over 25 years, wrote content for Caltech’s Infrared Astronomy website: Cool Cosmos, the Solar System Guide for the Planetary Society, created and presented the Janet Planet and Space E! Tracy Planetarium Shows, and served as editor for NASA educational materials. She received a NASA Group Achievement Award for her work with telescopes in education, and the International Astronomical Union has honored her by naming Asteroid 10028 Bonus after her, for “her unique method of translating difficult scientific discoveries to the general public." She wrote special material for Lily Tomlin in her 20s and did research for the French Legion of Honor recipient filmmaker Melvin Van Peebles.
