Rosina Wright-Castro

Dr. Rosina Wright-Castro has worked in the field of Education for the last 25 years. A graduate of UC Santa Barbara, she holds a B.A. in sociology and Spanish as well as a M.A. and Ph.D. in Education with an emphasis in cultural perspectives and human development. Dr. Wright-Castro began her career at UC Santa Barbara. She served as a counselor in the Educational Opportunity Program where she provided counseling services to underrepresented students to support successful college completion. Later she joined the Center for Chicano Studies to develop a university outreach initiative intended to support the academic preparation and college readiness of Latinx students in the Santa Barbara region.

Dr. Wright-Castro joined the California Student Opportunity and Access Program at Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) in 2008 where she was charged with developing academic programs intended to increase access to higher education for low-income and first-generation college students in secondary school. In 2011, she became coordinator of the Transfer Achievement Program at SBCC, where she managed a program providing comprehensive transfer support services to underrepresented students in an effort to increase university transfer rates.   

In 2014, Dr. Wright-Castro relocated to Phoenix, Arizona where she served as the student success coordinator for Mesa Community College's Foundations for Student Success, a federal Title III initiative. In this capacity, she coordinated student success services and assisted the campus with the development of diversity and equity initiatives. More recently, Dr. Wright-Castro returned to California and currently serves as an academic counselor at a community college in the Los Angeles area.
