What you can learn.

Evaluate visual storytelling in terms of plot, character, theme, lighting, art direction and editing
Understand how narrative structure is outlined, constructed and interpreted
Write, produce, edit and creatively direct a multi-spot campaign for a broadcast program or movie
Appraise the contributions and attitudes of a promo’s various artists and elements
Identify and analyze visual design, cinematography and various forms of editing within a film/show/promo
Evaluate the use of music, sound design and dialogue as plot devices and as transitional elements
Recognize the importance of music in entertainment content and examine the general and special functions of the musical score

About This Course

Learn to capture attention and craft short, professional marketing materials as a short form audio-visual editor for the entertainment industry. With an emphasis on marketing and advertising for theatrical content, as well as television and streaming platforms, instruction will cover project management; sounds and editorial design strategies; strategic marketing directives; and applying creative skills to meet industry standards. Students will utilize the skills learned to create short form content that will serve as an industry calling card to better prepare them for the job market. Entertainment industry guests will provide additional guidance and up-to-the-minute advice.

Prerequisites
Must have access to a computer with editing software installed (AVID, Premiere Pro, Final Cut X, Davinci Resolve, or a software of your choosing). Technical ability to edit and the knowledge of how to edit on the platform of your choosing is required.
