This course blends a traditional leadership effectiveness approach learning best practices in communication, conflict management, negotiation, power, motivation and team-building with a Self-Exploration journey in order to anchor leadership mastery past surface behaviors. By answering the questions, “Who am I?” to “What do I Want?” to “How can I get from here to there?” “How do I define Success, and “How can I be happy with myself and others 88% of the time?” and “How can I communicate these answers to myself and others in a compelling and balanced way?” will provide a meaningful place from which to lead from…in essence approaching leadership development from the inside out. In a business world where everyone is expected to separate personal from professional and good leaders are expected to help the organization run like a smooth oiled machine, we know enough now about human dynamics to know that these belief systems are sure to derail. The leader’s greatest work is to create a culture that allows individuals to work in their full potential which incorporates all of them, the mind, the emotion, and the underlying belief systems they have about themselves…so the work begins with themselves. 1 Dr. Marissa Pei Self Mastery aka "Know Thyself" is a strategic advantage for leaders to assess whether they are being driven from a place of automatic knee jerk reactions, which most often results in looking like a “jerk” or are they engaged in a happy purposeful life, where they know what their unique talents gifts and abilities are, what inspired actions are needed to develop and hone them, and how to communicate the key product…themselves.
This course takes a theoretical understanding of leadership effectiveness to a practical level, translating the concept of Self-Mastery into a way of living that is happy 88% of the time. Participants will be asked to call their own BS… Belief Systems that are keeping them from being happy and successful leaders. For example, participants will be asked to answer questions like, ‘Do I suffer from the Dis-Ease of Perfectionism? Are my positive intentions resulting in negative impacts? Is my intent to be good leader and motivator actually having an impact as such? What are my core belief systems that are keeping me from being an effective leader? Are my automatic patterns developed as a coping mechanism to avoid pain resulting in sabotage? What are key value-added leadership behaviors in communication, conflict resolution, team-building and valuing diversity and how effective am I? Am I leading from a place of insecurity and fear or from a deep sense of ok-ness with self first and then others.
