About this course:
The role of reliable and safe energy storage technologies in our society is expanding at rates limited only by our ability to imagine new market opportunities. New energy storage technologies such as lithium-ion batteries have enabled revolutionary technical advances in electrified transportation, wireless commercial electronics, biomedical sciences, renewable and grid energy networks, all-electric aircraft, and space exploration. Recognized with the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize in Chemistry, high energy density lithium-ion battery technologies continue to benefit our lives and society at large. This new 2-hour webinar discusses the novel design features, unique operating characteristics, and ubiquitous industry applications of lithium-ion batteries across today’s emerging consumer needs. A special focus on technological challenges facing worldwide raw material sourcing, cost-effective recycling, and safe-by-design operation will be discussed. Relevant real-life industry examples from various lithium-ion battery consumer electronics, electric vehicle, and aerospace applications are examined in terms of lessons learned. Finally, a general discussion of next generation “beyond lithium-ion” rechargeable battery technologies will be presented.Corporate Education
