The Writers' Program at UCLA Extension has developed two certificate programs that are ideal next steps for creative writers, especially MFA graduates, who are looking for a career in the publishing industry.
The Certificate in Literary Representation offers students the opportunity to learn the essential skills a literary agent needs to identify talent, develop manuscripts, and sell their clients’ work to editors.
For those interested in the commercial aspect of creative writing, the Certificate in Editing and Publishing provides the knowledge and skills needed to pursue roles such as editor, managing editor, copyeditor, or developmental editor.
Not sure of which path to take, or just looking to learn more about the publishing industry? All courses can also be taken à la carte for professional development.
