About This Course
Human society is experiencing a Golden Age of photography due to high-quality, affordable, portable cameras in our smartphones. However, what distinguishes amateur photographs from artful creations can elude those without formal photography training. This workshop offers an accessible, unintimidating introduction to easy principles that can revolutionize our understanding of photography. From simple concepts such as where we position a horizon line to how to isolate one color so that it bursts with impact to how to use color itself as metaphor, we discover simple but profound ways to help elevate our photography. We also learn the language required to name artistic principles we might have sensed but did not have the words to capture. No advanced photographic gear, software, or prior training in photography is required for this workshop. In this course, we look at her later years at Hearst Castle, her other work for W.R. Hearst, her continued work with the YWCA, and some of her other varied projects. This course uses the Hybrid format which allows students to participate remotely and/or in the classroom. This course will be recorded. Students will have access to videos for 30 days.
