About This Course
East Coast architecture encompasses a wide range of styles from New England to Mid-Atlantic to Southern, reflecting each region's history and diverse influences. From colonial-era buildings to modern structures, each area showcases a blend of European and American design traditions, defined by geography, climate, and culture. In this course, we explore the iconic structures that identify various East Coast cities and how they came to be. We look at the architectural styles as well as the socio-political context in which these buildings were created in cities including Boston, New York, Washington DC, Richmond, Savannah, and Miami. This course will be recorded. Students will have access to videos for the duration of the course.
