Current Events and Ethical Considerations

In this unique course, we discuss the week’s headlines in our world, but with a twist— centering on what is right or ethical. We use all outlets, both domestic and foreign, to get a cross-section of opinions for our discussions and evaluations. A number of these outlets will be suggested to have a common starting point, but everyone is free to add their own outlets as well. Students are encouraged to express any opinion, as this is a university course and the word universitas conveys the idea of encompassing a wide range of ideas. Whether we end up saying with Cicero, O Tempora! O mores! (Oh the times, oh the customs) or with Leibnitz that this is the best of all possible worlds, remains to be seen and discussed. This course uses the Hybrid format which allows students to participate remotely and/or in the classroom.
