About this course:

We all have a unique insight or a ‘Big Idea’ that could change the world and/or get you a green light on your project. The potential to inspire change depends on our ability to identify, articulate, and distill that insight for an audience of one or one thousand. This 5-meeting workshop will use the process of building a Ted-style talk to refine presentation literacy, enhancing everything from a design presentation to a ‘Big Idea’ that could change the world.  Prior to the first class, students will submit an existing or early-stage talk or presentation idea to the first class meeting, working toward a 5 to 12-minute talk/presentation that crystalizes and articulates their ‘Big Idea’. Learn to engage your audience, ignite curiosity, overturn our expectations, and provoke the unexpected response in the service of a call to action.  Learn from Greg Germann, a TEDxUCLA coach who helps speakers and designers craft some of the most powerful talks we have produced for UCLA and the TEDx platform.
