Wendy Achilles

My name is Wendy Achilles and I currently reside in eastern North Carolina with my husband and children. I am a licensed CPA in NC. I began my career in public accounting as an auditor for about a year and quickly realized that I preferred taxation. I transitioned to the tax department where I spent several years in corporate taxation. I then took a position as a tax manager for a multinational corporation located in eastern NC. I performed duties such as tax compliance, international tax research and SEC reporting. Although we were a multinational corporation, the corporate office was quite small so I gained experience in taxation, financial reporting and a limited amount of experience in project management.

In 1999, I decided to leave industry and pursue a career in academics. I completed a PhD in accounting in 2006. My research consists of behavioral issues in taxation and accounting education.
