Tami Ferreira

Tami Ferreira is a trailblazer in the world of accessible yoga. Her journey began in middle school when she was first introduced to yoga as a way to improve mobility, focus, and overall well-being. Born with cerebral palsy, Tami has always sought ways to adapt and thrive, and yoga quickly became both a personal sanctuary and a professional aspiration.

Determined to formalize her passion, Tami enrolled in the prestigious UCLA Yoga Leadership Program, a rigorous six-month course that combined academic study with four-hour daily yoga practice. As the first student with disabilities to complete the program, she defied expectations, earning dual certification from UCLA and the American Yoga Alliance with an outstanding 98% final score.

Today, Tami is an accessible yoga instructor specializing in adaptive practices for individuals with disabilities, seniors, and anyone seeking a more inclusive yoga experience. She teaches at Golden Heart Ranch, a nonprofit dedicated to young adults with special needs, where she crafts customized sequences that accommodate different abilities. Additionally, she leads classes at Agoura High School’s post-secondary program, providing students with an empowering and therapeutic approach to movement and mindfulness. She also teaches private one-on-one sessions, tailoring her instruction to the individual needs of each student for a more personalized experience.

Her impact extends beyond the yoga studio. Tami was selected as the sole female graduate featured in UCLA Extension’s 2024 profile, highlighting her achievements and advocacy for inclusive wellness. She has also been a guest instructor at various community centers and has aspirations to launch her own yoga apparel brand tailored for individuals with unique body types.
