Obioma Uche

Dr. Obioma Uche is an Early Childhood Education Division Director with Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Early Childhood Education Division and an adjunct professor at National University. With over 25 years of experience as an early childhood educator, she started her teaching career as a high school English and history teacher in Nigeria. Uche then migrated to the United States in 1991 and went into early childhood education as an aide in the Community College District Child Development program.

She earned a doctoral degree in April 2021 from Walden University, she successfully defended her dissertation titled Preschool Teachers’ Perspectives of Professional Development Related to the Management of Challenging Behaviors. Notably, Uche is a recipient of the 2021 APAD scholarship Award for Doctoral Students, served as the president of the Organization of Early Education Administrators (OEECA), holds different board positions at cultural organizations and has received several awards for her work both professionally and personally. Residing in Carson, CA, Uche also is a wife and mother of 3 adult children.
