Instructor Statement:
“Storytelling has always been a significant part of my life, shaping my ideals and inspiring courage. The stories I loved as a child, filled with fearless characters, taught me the profound importance of imagination and instilled in me the knowledge that stories can drive real change, which I have been fortunate to carry forward with me into adulthood and my own career in storytelling. My teaching approach is strongly informed by my belief that curiosity and collaboration are essential in telling authentic and compelling stories. In the classroom, my aim is to challenge and engage you, while at the same time encouraging deeper inquiry into the world and pulling from personal experiences to promote new and exciting discoveries. The classroom is also a powerful place for collaboration, I utilize small group conversations, role-plays, brainstorming sessions, and group projects and presentations to help you and your peers develop compelling story beats, resonant themes, and memorable characters. I am so excited about the educational journey that lies ahead of us! Together, we will set and achieve our goals, embrace the power of social learning, and glean valuable insight from real-world applications. I continually strive to create a learning environment that is safe, inclusive, and celebrates diversity in all its forms, and my dedication to staying aware of industry trends ensures that my students are prepared to take the next steps to reaching their writing goals. Here’s to a semester filled with growth, discovery, and shared triumphs!”
