Instructor Statement:

A popular myth is that good writing is primarily the result of inspiration and something we call “natural talent,” but nearly every accomplished fiction writer will tell you that his or her success is owing far more to studied technique and a whole lot of work. If you sit around waiting for the muse to appear, you could be waiting a long time. And if you get too caught up in whether or not you’re “talented” you’re very likely to miss out on opportunities to get better. So let’s just throw out those ideas altogether. Let’s focus on taking risks in our writing, while also learning as much as we can from the rich tradition of literature that is available to us.

Our Students Say it Best!

“Adam Prince is very insightful. This is shown by his helpful comments and suggestions on our work. His insight is also reflected in his beautiful writing, which helped set an example of great fiction writing.” — Writers’ Program Student
