What are "race" and "ethnicity" and how are they interpreted and enacted in everyday life? This course focuses on racial and ethnic relations that continue to permeate American lives and color our national character. How is the structure of American society shaped by racial and ethnic distinctions and how does that structure affect individuals and communities? Students are encouraged to apply a sociological perspective to their own observations about race and ethnicity. Transferable for UC credit.Winter 2025 Schedule
