MSE 243A Fracture of Structural Materials (Instructor: Prof. Ono, K.) Lecture, four hours; laboratory, two hours; outside study, four hours. Requisite: course 143A. Engineering and sci­entific aspects of crack nucleation, slow crack growth, and unstable fracture. Fracture mechanics, dislocation models, fatigue, fracture in reactive envi­ronments, alloy development, fracture-safe design. Letter grading.
