Fitima Jackson

Fitima believes in working collectively with students, parents and counselors through the college search process. She has committed the majority of her career to college admissions, outreach and recruitment. Over the last twenty years, she has worked in leadership positions overseeing strategic planning and implementation efforts. Fitima’s professional experience encompasses domestic recruitment, counselor programming and campus/virtual engagements at a large public university and a small highly-selective university. Her professional experience has given her extensive opportunities to partner with students, families and the college counseling community to understand college admissions and recruitment.

As a member of Texas Association for College Admission Counseling (TACAC), she served on the inclusion, access, and success committee, strategic planning committee, mentorship committee, and professional development committee. Through the Illinois Association for College Admission Counseling (IACAC) she served on the high school counselor professional development committee. Previously, she was a conference presenter for the Western Association for College Admission Counseling (WACAC) and has been an active member with the National Association of College Admission Counselors (NACAC) over the last two decades. She was elected to serve on two NACAC ad hoc committees: Engaging Public High School Counselors and Centering Students in the Development of Equitable Admission Practices.

Fitima attended the University of California at Santa Cruz and earned a B.A. in chemistry. She later graduated from the University of San Francisco with a master of public administration (M.P.A.).
