Claudia Salinas
Claudia the first in her family to attend college, and what she has valued the most has been the relationships with the students she has counseled. It is her belief that the path to college is an opportunity to reflect on and consider the many possibilities of career choices, appropriate majors, and selection of the school which would be the best choice to empower students to recognize and own their options.
Claudia has spent the last twenty years working in the highly selective admissions world. Her professional experience has been spread over a wide range of institutions, from Ivy-Leagues to Division I universities to small liberal arts colleges. This has given her a specialized set of expertise for helping students better understand the many college and university options.
In addition, she has a strong commitment to giving back to the community and the higher education and counseling profession. She was a founding board member for the College Board’s Prepárate Conference, focusing on increasing the pipeline of Latinx students from K-12 to higher education.
Claudia has also worked with the College Board on the Program Planning Committee for the National Forum, an annual gathering of admission and counseling professionals. As a member of the Texas Association of College Admission Counseling (TACAC), she served as a faculty member training new admission counselors and high school counselors on the college admission process. King Abdullah University of Science & Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia sought her expertise to select students into a prestigious summer research program; providing guidance on women applicants and helping to advance their mission of advancing science and technology through collaborative research and education.
Claudia attended Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa and earned her Bachelor’s in Political Science. She later completed a Masters in Education from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. She loves to travel, eat, and live life fully.
