Prerequisites
- Completion of the four (4) required courses:
- EDUC X 414.83: Introduction to Counseling for College Admission
- EDUC X 414.89: Financial Aid Fundamentals
- EDUC X 414.90: Testing/Career Assessment
- EDUC x 414.84: Inclusive College Counseling
- Completion of two (2) electives of your choice
- Formal enrollment in the College Counseling Certificate, which includes a completed and accepted application and payment of a $200 application fee
- Submitted Practicum Proposal form and approval from the Practicum instructor, as outlined below
Enrollment Instructions
To begin the Practicum course enrollment process, please download and complete the Practicum Proposal form using the link below. The Proposal must include the following information:
- Practicum placement site and supervisor's information
- Counseling activities the student expects to be involved in to meet the 65-hour* requirement during the Practicum course (fieldwork)
- Estimated date of completion of those activities (typically, this date is the last date of the online Practicum course)
* Please note that if you cannot complete 65 hours of student counseling during the 10-week Practicum course, you can complete 35 hours of counseling and a research project about a topic related to the field of college counseling. If you choose this option, clearly explain the research project in the Practicum Proposal form.
Once the Practicum Proposal is completed, click on the yellow "Enroll" button next to the section you want to enroll in. Follow the steps as you would to enroll in any other course until you are prompted to upload your completed Practicum Proposal form. Once the UCLA Extension enrollment team receives the form, the form will be forwarded to the instructor for review and approval. Once the Practicum Proposal is approved, the enrollment process can be completed in your UCLA Extension Student Portal.
